WINTER!
With its stark beauty and different views of common objects, Winter is the "forgotten season" for photography.

"Frozen Trees" is the top award winner of LifeLongPix, including a second place finish in the Littleton Downtowner Magazine photo contest and being juried into Denver's oldest gallery (Sparks Gallery).  One of the few photos taken outside of Colorado, this grove of trees is right next to Niagara Falls.  Taken in December, the mist and wind of the falls created this frozen grove - and covered myself and the camera with a thin sheet of ice as well.

An absolutely pristine snowfall with a great view of the Colorado Medicine Bow mountains.  A four mile hike on a 5 degree day insured there were no footprints of any kind in the snow.  A fan favorite, this photo is also on permanent display at the Great Western Art Gallery and was chosen to be LifeLongPix'es initial Holiday Greeting card.

This photo has been described as "Lords of the Rings"-ish.  The unique lighting is caused by the setting sun - which meant an hour snowshoe hike back down in the dark.  The large mountain in the upper right is Pike's Peak.

Clinton Reservoir is a classic "cirque" formation where several mountains encircle a snow-fed lake below.

A tribute to Colorado's mining heritage, this is an abandonded cabin from the long since "tapped out" Wild Irish Mine.

Taken at the base of Niagara Falls, even in winter - color can be found in the form of the permanent rainbow that lives at the bottom of the falls.
